Primarily self taught, I was introduced to sewing at a
young age by my mother and have had a deep passion of it ever since. It wasn't until after I finished my undergraduate
degree in Computer Science and Accounting and pursued a career in Internet web design, that I began to perfect my sewing skills
by reading sewing books and experimenting in my free time. I began sewing for family and friends. By word of mouth,
I soon started sewing anything from basic skirts to prom dresses for other people. I decided to perfect my skills and
pursue a Masters degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. My degree served as
a foundation where I was taught the valuable sewing techniques in tailoring, flat pattern, draping, textiles and CAD.
After graduation, I placed a successful small clothing line made up of five pieces in boutiques in the southeast Michigan
area. I am currently working on creating a massed produced clothing line. Sewing relaxes me and I love
the adventure, freedom, and versatility of creating something unique. I have always had a passion for creative sewing
and the fashion industry. The challenges of the ever changing business, color schemes, and construction garments by mixing
various fabrics and experimenting with different grainlines particularly keep me enthused and interested in fashion. Knowing the importance of a dressform, I took Jean's class for cloning your own dressform and pants form. In her classes,
I grew a deeper passion for draping and obtaining the custom fit. After all, why sew garments if you are not going to
look fabulous in them. The only way to achieve that custom fit and great look is though a quality custom made dressform.
I am glad I was able to join her team where I can help others achieve that same custom fit.
